Daniel Goleman is an author and science journalist. He wrote for The New York Times, for twelve years, reporting on the brain and behavioral sciences and he is also the author of the following books “Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ,” “Primal Leadership: Unleashing the Power of Emotional Intelligence,” and “Working with Emotional Intelligence.”. He claims that “To be successful requires the effective awareness, control and management of one’s own emotions, and those of other people.” In other words, to be emotionally intelligent. “Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is the ability to perceive emotions, to access and generate emotions so as to assist thought, to understand emotions and emotional knowledge, and to reflectively regulate emotions so as to promote emotional and intellectual growth.” EQ embraces two aspects of intelligence:

• Understanding yourself, your goals, intentions, responses, and behaviour; and

• Understanding others, and their feelings. This module explains what EQ is, how to apply it to personal and workplace relationships and how to evaluate and develop your EQ skills.
